The DVGW supports the gas and water industry in all technical and scientific areas. The main focus of the Association’s work is on safety and hygiene as well as environmental and consumer protection. The DVGW elaborates technical rules designed to promote the technical self-management of the German gas and water industry, thus ensuring the safe and secure supply of gas and water according to the highest international standards. The Association, which was founded in 1859, currently has approximately 14,000 members. The DVGW is free from economic and political influences.

The certification qualifies the Test Laboratory Gas as a test body for the “Witnessed Manufacturer's Testing for Certification Program" (WMTC) of the CSA Group for combination gas controls for gas appliances in line with ANSI Z21.78-2010 (reaffirmed 2020) / CSA 6.20-2010 (reaffirmed 2020).
The Test Laboratory Gas is a recognized testing laboratory for the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011(CPR) (notified body 2403, certificate of appointment see below for download). We can provide testing based on the following standards:

This also includes tests in line with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU as well as the Gas Appliance Regulation (EU) 2016/426.
In these segments, the Test Laboratory Gas at the EBI is recognized by DVGW CERT GmbH (notified body 0085, registration number LV-BN7053) as a testing laboratory for gas and water products.
